What is Worry Leaves?

Write down what is weighing on you, place it on a leaf, and watch a slow river carry it away. A quiet minute for a busy mind. It is one of 23 small, calm places in Pocket Meadow, a relaxation app for iPhone and iPad.

What it looks and feels like

The river curls gently through green fields toward a low, warm sun. Your leaf turns slowly as it drifts, the words written across it in dark ink. It sways from bank to bank, grows smaller, and finally slips out of sight near the horizon. A Polaroid floats a little lower in the water, its picture softening as it goes. With sound on, you hear the soft rustle of paper and a quiet drop as it touches the water.

Why it can help you slow down

Worry Leaves is inspired by a well-known mindfulness exercise often called "leaves on a stream". The idea is simple: instead of arguing with a thought or trying to push it away, you picture it on a leaf and let the water carry it out of view.

Many people find that giving a worry a shape, a few words on a leaf, makes it feel a little smaller and easier to watch from a distance. The thought may come back later, and that is fine. Each time, you practise noticing it without holding on so tightly.

How to use Worry Leaves

  1. Open Worry Leaves. A green river winds toward a soft sunset.
  2. Type one worry in the box at the bottom, in a few words, or tap the camera to add a photo.
  3. Tap the leaf button. Your words appear on a leaf (or your photo on a little Polaroid).
  4. Watch the river carry it away, getting smaller until it is gone.
  5. Add another, or simply watch the water for a while.

When to use it

  • When the same thought keeps looping before sleep
  • After a stressful message, meeting or conversation
  • When you feel overwhelmed and do not know where to start
  • As a short pause between tasks during a busy day

Tips for a calmer moment

  • Keep it short: one word like "deadline" is enough.
  • Breathe out slowly as the leaf drifts away.
  • Try the Slow pace on the home screen for an even calmer river.
  • Letting go of a photo can feel different from words. Try both.

Try it without the app

Sit somewhere quiet, close your eyes and imagine a slow stream. Each time a thought appears, picture placing it on a leaf and watch it float downstream. If you get caught up in a thought, that is normal: gently notice it and place it on the next leaf.

Good to know

Pocket Meadow has no ads and no account, and collects no data: what you write, draw or photograph stays on your iPhone or iPad.
