What is Thought Clouds?
Type a thought that keeps coming back. It becomes a soft cloud and drifts across a blue sky. You do not have to follow it. Just watch. It is one of 23 small, calm places in Pocket Meadow, a relaxation app for iPhone and iPad.
What it looks and feels like
The sky is soft blue, with a few white clouds already passing. Your thought appears inside a new cloud, the words written gently across it. It drifts sideways on a light breeze, changes shape a little, and slowly fades into the open sky. Nothing chases it and nothing has to happen. You simply watch the sky become clear again.
Why it can help you slow down
A common mindfulness image is to see thoughts as clouds passing across the sky: they come, they change shape, and they move on. You are the sky, not the clouds.
Thought Clouds turns that image into something you can see. Typing the thought and watching it drift can help you take one step back from it.
How to use Thought Clouds
- Open Thought Clouds. A clear sky stretches above you.
- Type a thought that keeps coming back, or add a photo.
- Tap to let it float. Your words become a cloud.
- Watch the cloud drift across the sky and fade away.
- Notice the open sky that remains.
When to use it
- When one thought keeps repeating
- When you feel caught up in "what if" thinking
- As a short mindful pause
- Before a conversation you are nervous about
Tips for a calmer moment
- Write the thought exactly as it sounds in your head.
- You do not need to answer it. Just watch it go.
- Release several clouds if several thoughts are busy.
- Pair it with slow breathing.
Try it without the app
Lie down or look out of a window and watch real clouds for a few minutes. When a thought comes, imagine it as one of the clouds, gently drifting past.
